Nobody asked for my review- Bethlehem Kudumba Unit

NIVIN IS BACK! 

I mean, in fairness, he was back in Sarvam Maya (2025), or even before.

But this Nivin took me right back to watching him in 2014. To say my heart is full would be such an understatement (cause it's overflowing). My teenage self is dancing and giggling and blushing so hard. ^.^

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, released on 21st August 2026, is a rom-com movie directed by Girish A.D. and produced by Bhavana Studios, Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan, and Syam Pushkaran (the same team behind Premalu).

It stars Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles, and Sangeeth Prathap, Roshan Shanavas, Shyam Mohan, Suresh Krishna, Vinay Forrt, and Srinda in supporting roles. As a Premalu fan, it was great to see so many of the Premalu cast back in action.

The cast was so good, so huge props to the casting director! Nivin Pauly is great, no questions about it! Mamitha Baiju played a beautiful Ashley, outspoken in her feelings for Justin and a strong woman in her own right. So much braver than Justin, too! :p. Suresh Krishna was in his comedic element (a nice change from the usual villain roles I've always seen him in). Sangeeth Pratap, Roshan Shanavas, and Shameer Khan also had me laughing with their impeccable comedic timing! 

The story follows Ashley as she moves from Mundakkayam to Angamaly with her family. Visibly upset about the move because she has to leave her friends behind, Ashley slowly starts meeting and getting to know people in her new town. As she meets people one by one, she also gets to know Justin, her next-door neighbour.

Justin, played by Nivin Pauly, is the perfect next-door boy (man). A 30-something-year-old guy, Justin runs a catering business, is well-liked in the neighbourhood, comes to everyone's help,  and has fans all around in the town. His only problem (?) is that he's not married, much to his parents' chagrin. 

As the story progresses, we see Ashley start liking Justin (I mean, who would blame her?), and Justin finds out.
What happens to their romance (if it does happen) makes up the rest of the film. 

The film showcases an age-gap romance with no ifs and buts about it. It doesn’t shy away from that aspect of their relationship. Plus, it doesn't just focus on Justin and Ashley but also on the people around them. Joel (played by Sangeeth Prathap), Justin’s younger brother, also has his own story running alongside theirs.

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has romance, laugh-out-loud comedy, third wheeling, lessons on how to approach your crush, and all the good things in between. 

This film delivers feel-good vibes from beginning to end! I don’t know how else to describe it other than pure, unfiltered joy!

The comedy scenes are so good. The jokes don't stop even in the emotional scenes. You’ll have half a tear forming at the corner of your eye, and then, without any warning, a joke will land and have your stomach hurting from laughter. There was laughing, crying, hooting, and clapping. Every actor was so good in their roles. The comedy was on-point, judging by the constant laughter and the jokes that landed perfectly. 

The movie may have a few flaws here and there, but the positives easily outweigh any and all negatives!

If you ask me what the best thing about the movie was, it’s an easy answer. One that needs no thinking.

His charm is effortless, his smile is infectious, and his acting will transport you to a different land altogether (Cloud Cuckoo Land :p)

After you come back from the theatre, you'll have an embarrassing smile on your face and a great feeling in your heart.
And if, like me, you waited for Nivin's comeback for a long time? You, my friend, are in for a good time!
