Nobody asked for my review - Manjummel Boys

Manithar unarndha kolla, Idhu manitha kaadhal alla,
Adhaiyum thaandi punithamaanathu

(For mere humans to understand, this is no mortal love!
It’s beyond that.... pure and holy!)

Manjummel Boys is the newest movie of the Malayalam film industry that itself has been riding high by its back-to-back hits with Bhramayugam and Premalu within the first two months of this year.

Directed by Chidambaram Poduval, Manjummel Boys has been in the theatres, going strong weeks after its release.
Based on a real-life incident, the film follows the story of the Manjummel boys to their trip to Kodaikanal in 2006. Like any other gang of boys, these boys in their early 20s are having fun, out and about without a care in the world, waiting to have the time of their lives as they plan their tour to Kodaikanal. What seemed like a fun tour at the start becomes a matter of life and death for the Manjummel boys when the boys reach Guna Cave (formerly known as the Devil's Kitchen).

Guna Cave was named after the hit song 'Kanmani Anbodu' from the Kamal Haasan starrer movie, 'Guna' was shot in the cave. The references to the movie and in particular this song is hard to miss. At the most pivotal moment of the movie, "Kanmani Anbodu' becomes the song every one hears amidst the thunderous claps that the audience makes.

It's a true story so one knows what has happened. Therefore, it is not only in the reality but in the making of the reality where credit needs to be given. Every frame is a testament to the sheer brilliance of the director Chidambaram S Poduval, cinematographer Shyju Khalid, music director Sushin Shyam, production designer Ajayan Challissery (responsible for the making of the Guna Cave) and the other crew members. If you've seen the real-life Manjummel Boys, you'll also know how brilliant the casting has been done for the movie.

A tale of friendship and human endurance, it will make you smile, cry and feel all sorts of emotions during the 135 minutes in the theatre.
Not romantic love, but a love so pure, so holy, it will stand by you even if it is a hundred feet deep.
That is Manjummel Boys.

Go, watch it in the theatres before it's too late! It's worth the theatre experience.
